The Portuguese Navy has revealed in recent days the existence of the “Célula Experimentação Operacional de Veículos Não Tripulados” (CEOV), called Q-branch, during the REPMUS unmanned naval systems test exercise that takes place in Troia from 11 to 27 September. Although it is known that this unit was created in 2017, this is the first time it has received media coverage.
The Portuguese army is seeking to acquire new light and medium unmanned aerial systems (UAS), i.e. those that NATO classifies as Class 1 (with a combat order weight of less than 150 kg).
