The Hermes 900 UAV made available by EMSA will be deployed from Egilsstaðir (East Coast of Iceland) in the coming months. It is planned to be under the joint supervision of the Icelandic coastguard.
The Hermes 900 UAV is controlled by satellite and remotely controlled by a pilot. It is equipped with cameras, radars and equipment capable of detecting emergency calls. It will be tested for search and rescue and pollution control applications over maritime areas in Iceland.
